Work Timeline
2020—22. Sports Product Design MS at the University of Oregon.
I'm in the thick of this one now. The program has deep connections with major sports companies in and around Portland. I'm focusing on using sports tech in uniforms and exploring products in a kit-building context. You can check out the program's Instagram here.
2018—20. Full-Stack Industrial Designer at Nine O in Utah.
This was a great job. We made dynamic furniture and art installations for high-end clients. I was involved in top-level ideation, then would flesh out the design, finalize toolpathing, and organize production. I also did a lot of machine exploration to see if we could get our CNC robots to do cool new things. You can see a recent campaign that I babied all the way through here.
2018. Leathershop Intern at Ranchlands in Colorado.
Ranchlands is a ninety thousand acre ranch outside Colorado Springs that uses and promotes sustainable land use and heritage skills. I learned leatherworking there from a third generation leatherworker to help produce a collection of bags and personal effects for Filson. We made top-notch stuff. See it on Filson's site here.
2013—17. Full-Stack Industrial Designer at Sure Water in Utah.
I was part of a small team that built this direct-to-consumer company over four years. It was good experience maximizing products that sat in the middle of a lot of stakeholders. I did the design for both product and marketing and worked with factories on quality assurance.
2013. Industrial Design Intern at Smart Design in California.
Coming out of school, I jumped at the opportunity to work in Smart Design's San Francisco office. I was involved in the whole gamut, from briefing, to field research gathering, to sketching and prototyping, to tweaking final surfaces. If you aren't familiar with them, see their site here.
2008—13. Industrial Design BFA from Brigham Young University in Utah.
This program has produced a lot of great designers and I'm glad I got to sneak in there with them. It focuses on fundamentals while managing to stay method and field agnostic. Check out the most recent crop of seniors here.
